Extraction of starch from corn by wet milling
From the beginning of nineteenth Century to now, corn wet milling of starch has been a general method of corn starch production. The separator of starch and gluten creates the condition for continuous production by wet grinding. Wet grinding, that is, corn is milled in wet state. In early nineteenth Century it was found that corn was easy to grind and starch was obtained after soaking. The purpose of wet grinding is to increase the yield of starch and to obtain a variety of by-products from corn kernels, that is, to separate the various components of corn kernels thoroughly.
